I am now a qualified Youth Mental Health First Aider and I have recently become a Time To Change Champion. This is a charity set up to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination . Skilled in all aspects of care including creating and supporting personalised care plans, staff management and mentoring, extensive collaboration with other health care professionals and has an overall hands on approach in day to day duties.Is successful in positively impacting on service users, consistently achieving objectives. Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, thriving in challenging environments.I am now using my skills and developing new ones as a teaching assistant and specialist support worker for students who are in further and higher education. These students have Aspergers , ADHD or mental health issues. I get a real pleasure from supporting them and helping them to achieve their goals.

My post was made redundant and there were no other available positions within the company.My key role was to assist the manager in the smooth running of a ten bedded residential home for adults with autism, mental health problems and learning disabilities. My duties included:. Supported service users to attend various colleges to enable them to develop life and educational skills.• Management of the staff rota using windows excel.• Completing regular staff supervisions and appraisals. • On call responsibilities with the unit’s manager and team leaders.• Mentoring and supporting staff with any issues they encountered at work or home.• Communicating with other professionals including doctors, nurses and social workers. • Attending the Worcestershire Providers Forum held at County Hall. • Regular communication with the parents of our residents. • Assisting with the transition of any new services users to the unit.• Working with the unit manager on CQC outcomes to ensure that the unit was compliant with all current regulations.• Working at least one shift a week, including one Saturday day shift every three weeks. This was to enable me to keep my core skills up to date and to talk with and support staff in a more informal way. • Assist each service user to help them reach a level of independence and quality of life. This has been achieved by supporting them through teamwork in a person centred way, helping them to managing everyday life skills both within the unit and wider community..
