I have created a new social enterprise business, www.dadsvdads.com. I was determined to set up an initiative to contribute to improving a horrible statistic that 1:5 men die before they are 65, missing the opportunity to enjoy activities they used to enjoy. Organising Dads can utilise this site, framework and structure to get other Dads playing sport with the organiser getting paid. I have now established the processes and infrastructure so that this can be run in my part time only. As this is all my own work I am able to share examples of my work in this space including communication competences through the website, YouTube training videos, social media communications, marketing materials. As well as the competences of starting a business with zero cost. This has all been a great learning experience, but time to get back to the day job!

As part of the global credit team I was accountable for Dow Corning’s European Accounts Receivable (AR) KPI's. I managed a team of 12 Credit Professionals across 6 European sites with a budget of $750,000. The team covered risk assessment and collections for 2500 customers and $200 million in open receivables across Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East. I was while My responsibilities included:• Team recruitment, development, goal setting and performance reviews• Quarterly bad debt provision calculation• Critical customer credit risk assessment • High debtor negotiation with a focus on distributors in developing and emerging markets• Meeting AR accounting compliance standards for 6 legal selling entities• Idea generation, support gathering and delivery of European improvement initiatives, including:- An accounts receivable business partner structure for payment term and overdue debt reduction- Consolidation of European banking relationships from 6 banks to 1 to reduce bank charges- Increasing automatic payment application in SAP from 50% to 80%• Leading the European delivery of global initiatives:- Outsourcing administrative activity to Poland and China- Creating procedures for a new Turkish legal entity- Centralising of the European credit function into Seneffe Belgium, which was my final responsibility

As a member of the credit team I was responsible for payment term control and receivables collection for domestic and export customers. This also included set up and follow up of letter of credit arrangements.

Within this role I had full responsibility for risk assessment and overdue debt control of customers in developing and emerging markets, managing the risk within the framework of a need to grow business in these geographies. Developing the necessary relationships to make things work for me was a challenge I relished.

My key experience was dealing with the high tension environment of managing the customer while warrants were executed, forcing entry to properties to install pre-pay meters.
