As a Cloud Engineer II at AWS, I was a member of a developer team that focused on tackling broad impacting problems across the Region Services organization of AWS. Some of the projects included refactoring AWS AppConfig’s service health monitoring code package, which led to a reduction of high severity tickets by 27% (YoY), to building out new virtual network infrastructure, via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), unlocking additional revenue streams and meeting customer requirements. All the projects I worked on involved designing, coding, and implementing new capabilities or automation.Prior to being on the developer team, I worked with AWS’ EC2 team helping manage day to day operations for two Tier-1 networking services that handed all Ingress/Egress network traffic to AWS and Network Address Translation. While in this role, I saw an opportunity to automate some of the routine tasking and developed a new automated network connectivity testing capability, which leveraged a combination of AWS EC2, AWS S3, Python, And Bash scripts. With this capability, I was able to save over six engineering hours per week and allow for one engineer to now do the work that required two engineers previously.
