System Engineer
System engineering for mobile and fixed data links, primarily satellite with some tactical data link work. Communication system analysis and design. Digital modulations and signal processing. Work as needed with the first four OSI layers (physical, link, network, transport). System specification, analysis, simulation, integration, and test.Experience managing small, diverse (HW/FW/SW) technical teams (2-5). Projects include:(1) Paired Carrier Multiple Access (PCMA) - digital cancellation technique allowing two signals to share the same satellite bandwidth.(2) Protected Transponded Satellite Pilot (PTSP) - study to adapt ViaSat's linkway waveform to meet additional government requirements.(3) MIDS-JTRS Phase 2C - study to include a new waveform in the MIDS-JTRS radio terminal.(4) Enhanced Bandwidth Efficient Modem (EBEM) - requirements definition to provide QoS (DiffServ model) functions over the satellite link, to be embedded in an add-on Ethernet switch.(5) KG-250 Inline network encryptor - system test of network functions.(6) Joint Combat Camera - portable unit to compress, encrypt, and transmit video data via satellite.(7) Connexion by Boeing - two way satellite link, fixed ground to airborne. Data link for internet service to commercial airlines.
