In this position I manage a indoor climbing facility, outdoor equipment rental program, and an outdoor adventure trip program. I also oversee a wellness program, Beach Balance, which consists of massage therapy, nutrition counseling, self assessment tools, and special events. The events programmed range from wellness lectures that include stress management, nutrition, and sleep, to workshops on aromatherapy. Outside of managing these two department areas I serve on numerous professional committees, such as the Campus Health and Wellness Committee. I also teach classes under Recreation and Leisure Studies in Teamwork and Group Dynamics, along with Leisure in Contemporary Society.

Oversaw all Rock Climbing Wall operations on a 1,800 sqft textured climbing wall. Established the Outdoor Adventure Trip program offering six trips per semester. Climbing Wall Supervisor, Spring 2007- Spring 2010 Belayed and taught interested students proper climbing techniques and skills on the university’s 1,500 square foot rock climbing wall. Worked special events for student and community groups. Dismantled and reset all climbing routes every semester. Outdoor Shop Attendant, Spring 2007- Spring 2010 Prepared orders for camping trips, took returns, cleaned and repaired camping equipment. Maintained and repaired weight room equipment at the North Recreation Center.

Co-led Horizons Extended and Continuing Education five day instructional rock climbing course for nine to fifteen year olds. Co-taught RC 812 Outdoor Adventure, an eleven day class with Dr. Tom Holman in Canon City and Alamosa, Colorado. Co-led a two day introduction to rock climbing class for Sikeston High School with Professor Timothy Rademaker. Co-taught six week section of rock climbing skills course RC 151: Advanced Outdoor Skills. Led approximately twenty four additional rock climbing day trips and approximately five multi-day climbing trips. Developed an on campus outdoor climbing area. Developed and facilitated climbing anchor building courses and an advanced climbing skills and techniques course for the Rock Climbing Club and student body. Created a video documentary for the University’s Outdoor Leadership Program.
