- Responsible for DNA Nudge's diagnostic algorithm.- Key member of team that developed and demonstrated the use of DNA Nudge's platform for the detection of Covid-19. As a consequence, DNA Nudge received a major NHS contract and it's platform was deployed in hospitals around the country.- Designed and developed data analytics tools that were used by the R&D team to analyse and debug their experiments.- Responsible for the training of a recent (biological sciences) PHD graduate in software best practices.

• Created and implemented DNAe’s first ever automatic diagnostic calling algorithm.• The algorithm was developed using Bayesian inference, Monte-Carlo Markov Chain simulation and machine learning techniques. Within 6 months, starting from nothing, the algorithm out-performed the previous diagnostic gold standard.• Due to DNAe’s day to day data needs being so variable and bespoke, a normal - linear - data pipeline would have been insufficient. As such, I invented a graph theoretic data analysis tool which could be rapidly altered and scaled. Hence, it morphed in almost real time to the changing data needs of the business. This tool was the foundation on which the calling algorithm was built.• Architected an assay design web application (frontend, backend and DB schema) that allowed for the testing and analysis of several 1000 primer designs. The platform currently stores data for >100 000 discrete PCR well reactions.• Was appointed to lead a multidisciplinary team of microbiologists and mechanical engineers to develop a novel detection methodology leveraging solid phase PCR and the real time sensing capabilities of DNAe’s custom CMOS IC.• Often seconded to multidisciplinary teams to provide statistical advice and guidance - especially with regards to epistemological and probabilistic questions.• Initiated and developed from the ground up DNAe’s first ever bioinformatics platform. The software was used to demonstrate how short (~20) base pair reads of DNA could be used to detect pathogens. This work helped DNAe secure a multi-million dollar contract with the United States’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).

At Chiaro I was responsible for overseeing the early stage electronic design and development of a new class of consumer electronics aimed at female personal wellness. My roles included sensor selection and sourcing, analogue and digital circuit design, PCB development and test, microprocessor and Pc software development for the real-time collection and display of sensor data. Furthermore, I developed several algorithms using the data provide by the on-board sensors (force sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope) which allowed us to add additional diagnostic features to our product providing a better user experience as the product could now be considered "smart." One such algorithm that I developed was capable of automatically classifying signals based upon their characteristics and hence providing our user with important physiological information.I also collaborated and assisted in the design of the physical product working with a mechanical engineer ensuring that the product's form matched the product's functions with regards to sensor integration and system analysis. Furthermore, I worked alongside a smart phone App developer and a back-end server engineer ensuring all spheres of the product's design were holistically integrated and efficient. And finally, as the 1st employee of the company, my roles also extended beyond the technical and I was involved in pursuits such as market and regulation research, designing user testing regimes etc.

I was responsible for the collecting and sorting of the top 100 companies in South Africa's remuneration policies. Furthermore, I had to collect and collate specific data points of interest and aggregate them. I did this by implementing and writing an algorithm that could automatically extract the pages of information in which I was interested. And while I wished to develop the algorithm further to automatically search for and copy the specific data points in which I was interested, due to time constraints this function was not developed. This work was done in a combination of C++, Matlab and Excel.

Worked as a data analyst. I was required to write an algorithm that could sift through large amounts of data and extract from said data particular regions of interest, which when compared to the a particular data set provided important diagnostic information.Furthermore, I streamlined old systems and made them more tailored for their new purpose. All this work was done in Matlab.
