Florida Attorney and Former High School and Middle School Latin Teacher with Legal Experience as General Counsel, Collections, Landlord/Tenant, Subrogation, and Legal Helpline Attorney. Shortly after law school I began a position as General Counsel with Wharton Hardware and Supply Corporation. My principal responsibility was collecting on debts owed to the company. Many of the lawsuits I filed resulted in default judgments, giving me extensive experience in post-judgment discovery and levying on both real and personal property. I also became sworn into the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in order to file a brief in the Bankruptcy Court in Philadelphia, obtaining an exemption on the automatic stay and recovering a debt for the company. As the company also owned real property that it rented out to tenants, my responsibilities also included collecting and filing suit for overdue rent. For both of these legal areas of responsibility I had the opportunity to appear before the Special Civil Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey and the General District Court of Fairfax County, Virginia.For six years after leaving my position at Wharton and moving to Florida I returned to being a Latin teacher, the career I had held before law school. Three years ago, however, I decided to return to the legal world and took a position as a paralegal in the area of risk and compliance in the legal department at Holiday Inn Club Vacations Incorporated, a timeshare resort company, pending my admission to the Florida bar, which took place in October 2018. I served as the exclusive paralegal for the VP of Risk and Compliance in a position that was created expressly for an employee with a J.D. Much of my risk and compliance work involved the evaluation of customer complaints and auditing the quality assurance aspect of the sales process to ensure that quality assurance officers were in compliance with the company’s sales practices, in particular that they did not engage in misrepresentation that could result in future litigation. I was also involved in the creation and drafting of company policies in conjunction with other departments.I have since worked as an attorney at RAS LaVrar, LLC, and am currently an attorney at Hiday & Ricke, P.A.
