Poole projects is an engineering consulting company that primarily carries out the design, manufacture and installation of machinery and process systems primarily for the paper and pulp industry. With the use of Autocad 2D, 3D and Plant packages, I produce process and control diagrams, plant and equipment layouts and designs, steel work layouts and designs and demolition and Civil drawings. Furthermore, my job also includes site visits, production of method statements, Bills of materials and risk assessments for the installation and operation of any Poole project products.

As a Design Engineer I created engineering designs and headed projects in aid of the production and installation of telecommunication equipment. My duties included designing bespoke parts and products to aid in the production of optical fibre cables as well as telecommunication equipment itself. These products where made using a variety of fabrication methods with a range of materials including sheet metal, casting and milling. Designs included geometric tolerances and were created primarily using Solidworks. I designed optical fibre cables which were accompanied with bills of materials, data sheets with accompanying characteristics such as yield strength, operating temperatures and the test standards they are compliant with. I designed and carried out tests for our products and presented the results in front of the commercial teams and customers of multinational companies. In my job I have not only become familiar with the extrusion process but in my spare time I took on reading and completing tasks in an Engineering NVQ level 3 textbook to develop more practical engineering skills and knowledge along with the aid of a community workshop. I carried on reading textbooks given to HNC and degree students of mechanical engineering like WB Boltons Engineering science. In my own time I also worked through Solidworks online tutorials and became proficient enough to pass both my Solidworks Associate (CSWA) and Solidworks Professional exams (CSWP).
