Visitor Services Associate
As a Visitor Services Associate, I facilitated the flow of visitors within the lobby from several positions that ranged from controlling the number of visitors that entered, to greeting them as they enter and directing them to the appropriate locale where other staff can assist their needs.Additionally, there are exhibition pieces as part of the 78th Whitney Biennial that require VS staff to assist visitors with tech equipment, as well as observe the visitors in less traditional exhibition spaces where safety needs to be monitored at all times.
Memorial Exhibitions Extern
Assisted with gathering data through empathy surveys to discover how visitors felt during their visits. Data was used to determine how certain exhibitions could be changed and/or updated, and to discover what sort of emotions the museum itself was invoking from it visitors. I researched objects via Collective Access for upcoming exhibitions and reported my findings to the department. One such project was about the Mohawk Indian ironworkers responsible for the construction of the World Trade Centers. In an effort to honor the victims and first responders of the September 11th Attacks, thousands of memorials were constructed nationally as well as internationally. The Memorial Registries managed by the Memorial, is a database which is digitally accessible by the public and is updated my its staff but also allows for individuals to make submissions. I researched and submitted six entries to this database during the two months of my internship.Additionally, I performed administrative tasks in the office, conducted research for projects that involved looking for specific information about the victims for their families and collected information regarding any scholarships or non-profit organizations started on behalf of a victim by a family member or friend.
Intern -Collections And Exhibitions
Mitigated the workload of the Oral Histories manager by performing key research on past service personnel, and organized and presented reports to the head curator. Provided additional support by revising and summarizing oral history interview transcriptions for use in future exhibitions.Spearheaded a grant funded preservation project on the Growler Submarine that allowed for significant interior updates to damaged parts by means of replacement, removal, or, if possible, repair. All objects that allowed for any of the three updates were then photographed, logged, described in detailed and/or identified, and added to a spreadsheet. Responsible for cataloging more than 350 objects within a span of 4 to 6 weeks. The project itself was for an exhibition that told a much broader story of the Growler and other Cold War era submarines with updates inside and a temporary exhibit on the pier adjacent to the submarine that allowed for complete access to the public.
Specialty Team Member
I worked in the specialty department, which covers Cheese, Coffee, and Chocolate. Apart from assisting customers with their needs, I restocked the departments, cleaned any food prep areas and cut made-to-order cheeses for customers. I also assisted with the organizing and merchandising of the specialty department products.
House Manager
I was responsible for the front-of-house volunteers, both in training and scheduling. I implemented training seminars every quarter to help reach other potential volunteers, to explain their role at the Theatre, provide any updated training protocols, and refreshed all volunteers on safety procedures and the fundamental policies. I maintained the concession area, instituted the SquareUp software so guests could begin using credit cards to purchase Swag, drinks and snacks. All such information was recorded and then weekly reports were submitted to accounting for reconciliation.During my employment, I created an all-encompassing information binder for current and any future staff to reference anything related to the House Manager position.
Merchandiser And Counselor
I was trained as a counselor of all Scotts Miracle-Gro lawn products in Southeastern United States to better assist the needs of every customer with which I engaged. I was responsible for up to four Lowes/Home Depot locations that required me to merchandise them based on seasonal changes and promotions, as well as keep them stocked with the help of store associates and management.
Insurance Agent
As an independent agent located in Deland, I do my best to help people find affordable, customizable health insurance, that keeps their budget in mind. I love to help people and this career deals directly with one-on-one interactions. I have access to hundreds of products and carriers that gives me the freedom to find what is right for my clients and knowing that my clients are covered is one of the best feelings I could ever experience at this job.
Intern
My responsibilities were:Sifting soil to identify relevant artifacts (bones, bone fragments, metal)Assist Archaeologists with day to day work within the main discovery areaI learned how important it was to identify all items throughout the site; to make an informed decision related to its history. The way certain pieces were found, while simple on the surface, spoke to a more underlying situation that could only be purported by its particular discovery. This job was valuable, not just in the field itself, but in life, as it taught me to be delicate and observant in what I was doing, and while there was a set process, it depended on a different technique to adapt to the different findings. There were intricacies that I didn't realize existed in archaeology until I was completely immersed in the day-to-day operations, even for a short while, it was a unique and lasting experience for me.
Sales Associate
My responsibilities were:Selling throughout the Men’s department, which included: Suits, Polo Ralph Lauren, Murano, Calvin Klein, and Hugo Boss Department merchandizing in multiple areas (displays, mannequins, folding, hanging, etc.)Met and often exceeded minimum sales goals (Resulted in more than $275,000 during employment)
Retail Sales Associate
Maintained a high level of selling professionalism within the Sporting Goods, Tools, and Lawn & Garden departments to inform and educate customers about newer technologies. Merchandised old and new products to maximize sales throughout the departments. Sought and completed training on new products to better inform customers/clients about the benefits and features. Met and Exceeded sales goals, credit card and warranty metrics, and bonus programs.
