Manage servers for iThemes Sync, a WordPress site management SaaS platform used by 100k+ sites. Manage server-side services for BackupBuddy, a WordPress full-site backup solution, handling backups for 50k+ sites. Manage servers and code base for a membership system used by 100k+ members, serving 200+ products. Maintain multiple heavily-trafficked WordPress websites, including ithemes.com. Maintain numerous internal WordPress and custom websites to provide internal communications, resources for staff, and services for developers.Created and maintain a deployment system used by all products that uses Git features to allow developers to easily create new releases and automatically serve them to our customers using our licensing and auto-update feature. Maintain servers and code bases for our licensing and auto-update API systems. Maintain a catalog of 200+ themes and 30+ plugins as the legacy code base manager.Work directly with product developers on internal system improvements and feature updates to meet product requirements. Meet frequently with project management, marketing, and support teams to find pain points and create solutions to address current and potential future issues.Created and executed a process to transition terabytes of customer data and all our critical services used by iThemes Sync, BackupBuddy, all our API servers, and our websites from AWS to LiquidWeb (parent company) internal systems without downtime or requiring customer action, updating all our products and services to work with the new systems. Worked with LiquidWeb Ceph team to more-than-double transfer speeds for connections originating outside the data center.

Managed a team of full-stack developers building and maintaining all our themes and plugins. Created coding standards and guidelines for our projects. Implemented unit testing in our projects. Worked as part of a project management team our products to scope out new features and release plans. Personally interviewed potential developers and applicants for various other positions.Built a development server with per-user PHP version switching to ease testing and debugging of our products. Updated the Builder theme to be fully-responsive and adding HTML5-support while keeping support for the existing feature set and designs. Designed the communication model, created the feature set, and built the WordPress plugin for iThemes Sync, a SaaS WordPress site management service.Led development of the iThemes Security plugin, a plugin providing a variety of features to enhance WordPress site security and enforce security best-practices for site users. During this time I modernized the code base, rebuilt the user interface, improved performance of the plugin on every page load, and added numerous features.

Helped project scope and developed the back-end for the BackupBuddy plugin, the first WordPress plugin to provide full-site backup, restoration, and migration features. Created the Builder Style Manager plugin giving users a graphical way to easily modify designs for the Builder theme.Updated our product deployment system to use Git submodules to provide cross-project shared libraries, enabling a single-push to update all projects using the shared library. Created the Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades plugin that allows for WordPress users to upgrade existing themes or plugins by uploading a zip file, a feature still not supported by WordPress core. The plugin is currently installed on more than 100k sites.

Added back-end enhancements to themes. Wrote the back-end for the Flexx series of themes, which allowed for users to customize the page layout (adding, removing, and rearranging page sidebars) through a graphical interface in the WordPress dashboard. Designed and created the iThemes Builder theme, one of the early framework themes and first theme to allow full customization of page layouts using a graphical editor in the WordPress dashboard.Deployed a custom internal Git server using Gitosis to manage our code bases and allowing for easy product releases through automated process to generate finalized zip files, push them to AWS S3 buckets, and serve them to customers through our membership system all with a single Git push command from the developer.
