The world is advancing at a blistering rate and mechanical engineers will be at the forefront of this advancement. As a mechanical engineer I have the opportunity to help pave the way in development of our world. Ever since I can remember I have always had a fascination with the mechanical systems that have become integrated with modern society. I was always very hands on learning about mechanical systems from working on cars with my father as a child to working in industry on mechanical instrumentation.Throughout my education and industrial experience, I have learned that the field of mechanical engineering is a complex and ever-growing field. It is a field that requires constant learning and betterment to provide innovative safe solutions to complex problems. During my time as a MSc student I conducted research in the area of liquid pipeline leak detection. This project had me utilize my knowledge of fluid mechanics and machine learning to design a system which could enhance leak detection in industry.As a recent graduate from the University of Calgary I’m currently searching for the next opportunity to expand upon my passion for mechanical engineering. Specifically I’m looking for a career which will allow me the opportunity to utilize my mechatronics skills to overcome exciting industrial challenges.
