Spending the first five years of my career in a non-profit trade association has been an insightful and engaging opportunity. Starting as a part-time Social Media Admin and working my way up to my current role as Content Manager, working in a small association requires you to wear many hats and step into a wide range of roles and responsibilities.I found adaptability, flexibility, and an eagerness to step up to challenges essential in a work environment like the one I found at the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Given the small staff, being pulled onto new projects often meant learning new skills or gaining new perspectives and insights to accomplish the task at hand. Working collaboratively with my team and alongside other departments is a great way to reach more effective solutions to our projects. One of the most significant benefits I enjoyed at ASHI has been a higher level of creative freedom and decision-making to create solutions within the given parameters and goals of the project, relative to other entry-level jobs. This allied for myself and the team I was a part of to make a sizable impact on the association. The project that best encapsulated my time and experience here at ASHI has been redesigning the association's website. This project was given to my team, and at the outset, it seemed like the scope would include simply touching up the web content and providing the design of the pages a facelift. However, the deeper we got into the audit of the current website and its; current state, it quickly became apparent there would need to be a sizable overhaul. Data Architecture, Rebranding, UX Design, Content Creation, and User Testing became the new tasks on our to-do list. My team and I were able to successfully launch the website (even during a global pandemic), allowing the association, including our members and staff, to utilize all we have to offer with greater effectiveness and travel down new avenues.Contact me via email at cgkarczewski@gmail.com, or reach out to me here on Linkedin.
