My legal practice focuses on patent prosecution and counseling. For clients in the United States, France, Italy, Japan, and Korea, I have managed U.S. and foreign patent portfolios, prepared and prosecuted patent applications, rendered opinions, and counseled clients in diverse technical fields. For example, I have experience with technical fields, such as on-site power generation, engine technology including reciprocating-piston, spark-ignition (e.g., diesel), and gas turbine engines, hybrid powertrains, transmissions, aircraft-related technology, rail-related technology, barge-related technology, industrial manufacturing, hydrocarbon production including hydraulic fracturing and subsea drilling, petrochemical processing including environmentally-friendly petroleum processing systems and methods, refining systems and methods including advanced instrumentation and control, fluid filtration systems, protective coating technologies, systems for navigation and control of unmanned vehicles such as autonomous cars and UAVs or drones, including complex sensor systems and navigation strategies, vehicle safety systems, electric vehicle battery systems, electric vehicle battery charging systems, hydraulic systems, tire and tire manufacturing technology, pumps and compressors, dispensers, security systems, fire suppression systems, firearms and ammunition, mineral processing technology, fiber optic communications equipment, modular utility pole technology, construction and mining equipment and logistics systems, LED lighting systems, systems leveraging artificial intelligence such as machine learning, computer architecture, and software-related technologies. I have also prosecuted reissue and reexamination applications, and conducted oral appeal hearings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent Trademark Office (PTAB) (formerly the USPTO Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences).I have written and lectured on legal topics relating to protection of intellectual property, and have taught patent examiners at the USPTO Patent Academy.
