Although I started out as a Concrete laborer, no college, and few prospects, I found my calling.I’m a problem solver with a thirst for knowledge. I have spent most of my career solving one problem or another. When I first became a Project Manager in 2000, I didn’t just take the schedules and processes that I was taught as the “Holy Grail”. Instead I met with every Contractor and talked with every Distributor to find out what they needed and what sequence would work best for them. That’s how I developed my schedules. This approach earned me several awards over the years and a lot of respect from both peers and Contractors’.And as time went on, I put my skills to use in Communities that were struggling. I took over the Management of several Communities over the years that had some serious issues with quality and Customer Service. One in particular, with the help of the Sales Team and Contractors, got turned around and helped me earn half of the 2007 award for “Best Team”. We took a Community that had issues with the local jurisdiction and inspections, poor quality, and angry customers and we turned it around. When the recession hit, I expanded my knowledge and learned new skills. I took computer repair courses at New Horizon Computer School in Baltimore. Became a beta tester for MS. I got certified in soil, concrete and asphalt testing while working with Hillis and Carnes Engineering. I learned the Insurance Recovery business and became a valued member of the Nations Home Remodeling company. I even designed their web page, but I don’t think it has been up kept since I left. I eventually came back to new home construction where I think my skills are the most useful.Because I still have more to learn, I have taken the time this pandemic slow down has offered and used it to “Intern”, or cross train, in DRB Groups Purchasing Department. Expanding my mind, my skills, and hopefully my carrer.So, if you think you have a challenge that needs a solution, feel free to contact me.
