I also produced reports and clipbooks to help track performance.

I strengthened the profile of Newcastle College and Newcastle Sixth Form College by working with its schools and departments to create positive news stories suitable for the local and national press. As well as producing press releases, alongside commissioned photography, I also updated college websites and integrated social media into my communications strategy. I have helped to develop new websites by producing case studies and success stories that were also used within internal communications material. I worked closely with the college’s Marketing department to provide PR support when needed, as well as help to organise and manage events around the campus.

Sunderland Software City

I was responsible for all communications activity for software industry investor Sunderland Software City. This including researching and drafting press releases on behalf of small to medium sized digital businesses in the North East, using social media to communicate with the region's software sector and develop promotional materials to support businesses both in domestic markets and overseas.

This post involved writing news stories and double page spreads to tight deadlines for the neBusiness section of The Journal and Evening Chronicle. I led on a number of regional business campaigns, including the ‘100 Apprentices in 100 Days’ campaign, which saw me work with local businesses to create 1,355 apprenticeship placements. Daily responsibilities included sourcing and writing news stories and features, working closely with PR agencies and press offices, and uploading online content to the Journal and Chronicle website.

I worked as a reporter for both Money Management Magazine and Financial Adviser Magazine, both published by Financial Times Business. Daily responsibilities included completing news stories and lengthy features, focusing on the personal finance markets. I used Excel to create complex financial tables for the magazines as well as create questionnaires to be distributed to the financial services community. I also hosted tables at awards ceremonies and events. Both publications called on me to be a fast learner as I was tasked with communicating complex financial products and services to investors and business leaders from around the world.
