• Implemented entire “Albany Vision,” policy, committee, budget and priority bills; responsible for the drafting, origination, negotiation and passage of 152 bills through the Senate, and over 75 Laws. Key Areas: MTA, Transportation, Consumer Protection, Energy.• Corporations Committee Director, overseeing and executing an average of 10 or more meetings and hearings each year; regularly passing 33% of the bills referred to the Committee after substantive vetting and critically examining topics such as MTA Finances.• Maintain and grow extraordinary relationships with all key stakeholders from the Grassroots to the Governor’s Office; allowing for and facilitating inclusion and passage of budgetary, legislative and policy priorities at every opportunity.

• Oversee and implement the Senator’s entire Albany operation, including his legislative agenda/priorities; crafting new legislation; analyzing all bills he considers at the Committee level and those that make it to the floor; responsible for the passage of 14 bills, 6 of which became law.• Draft bills, resolutions, proclamations, citations, briefing documents, talking points, research memoranda, correspondence, press releases, quotes, speeches, floor remarks and website/social media content. • Instrumental in implementing advocacy campaigns, lobby days, workshops and crafting strategy around major initiatives, such as: New York Health, HALT-ing Solitary Confinement and enacting a Statewide policy on Videotaped Interrogations.

• Responsible for drafting legislation, testimony, talking points, background materials, press releases, blog entries, e-newsletters, proclamations, resolutions, correspondence and other written materials. • Act as primary liaison to Manhattan Community Board 6; attend and speak at meetings—draft and deliver “Board Reports” and public testimony. • Perform outstanding constituent services/advocacy work, specializing in matters that involve the Department of Buildings, New York City Housing Authority, Department of Housing Preservation and Development and other related agencies.• Responsible for planning and coordinating strategy concerning the City Council Public Housing Committee—including press, advocacy and internal and external strategies.

• Executed all background briefing documents for the Democratic Conference Leader.• Drafted speeches and remarks for the Senate President for delivery at major events (White House, NCSL, National & World Conferences, Inauguration, State of District); spectrum of topics included—High Speed Rail, Education & Public Protection.• Negotiated and facilitated passage of the “High Speed Rail Planning Board Act of 2010.”• Created, coordinated and advised on successful public hearings, workshops, press-roll-outs and public advocacy—including “Post-Production Tax Credit Advocacy Day” & “Don’t Shoot NY Workshop.”• Managed time-sensitive research assignments, white paper, background, bill drafting, talking point and related assignments on a number of topics for various members.

• Executed speechwriting, background document and talking point preparation needs for all meetings, public appearances, public addresses and press roll-outs; including opinion/editorial, press release, script, quote and letter drafting. • Principal scheduling consultant; chief meeting and messaging designee & relationship builder on a spectrum of subjects.• Managed the Senator’s legislative agenda; negotiated and passed seven bills in the areas of affordable housing, aging, protecting children, and public protection. • Co-creator of “Majority School” initiatives such as the CREC and SEPI Programs, as well as the 2020 Vision for New York, a comprehensive governing document.• Managing partner of the “Tri-Level Legislative Task Force;” released a comprehensive report and legislative agenda, directly responsible for passage of three bills. • Assisted in the creation and emergence of the Operation SNUG Initiative, the “Leadership Legislation Project” and the Continuous Improvement Committee (CIC)—all of which led to legislative action. • Devised and implemented creative solutions concerning the SOFA/DFTA “Meals on Wheels” issue; helped negotiate the resolution of the issue which allowed over twenty priority bills to be passed. • Operations manager of the Senator’s constituent/interest group communication platform; reviewed and approved all correspondence before it was sent out. • Principal liaison between the Senator and Counsel & Program, collaborating on host of initiatives—including Stimulus Town Halls, Operation SNUG and High Speed Rail.

• Chief counselor to the Ranking Member of the Senate Standing Committee on the Judiciary; drafted bills, reviewed agendas, planned strategy, briefed members and staff.• Planned and conducted a series of statewide public hearings on Judicial Diversity, which garnered unprecedented interest; produced a report and drafted legislation. • Negotiated and guided the passage of legislation, including comprehensive three bill package to protect children from crimes of a sexual nature.• Drafted all correspondence, talking points, speeches, research papers and background documents for the Senator; planned and executed press conferences and workshops.• Assisted in the development of many new initiatives such as Operation Safe Southeast Queens, Operation Everybody Works, New York to Shanghai Trade Mission, “Sister to Sister” relationship with West Bengal, India, Senior Appreciation Week, the Jump and Ball Tournament, the Biz Kids/Summer Jobs Program and the Adopt-A-Strip program.
