Primary responsibilities in this position included the installation of soil tensiometer stations at agricultural operations (including orchards, vineyards, row crops) throughout Solano County. After installation, I monitored these stations to collect soil moisture data and created graphs to assist farmers with improving their irrigation scheduling. In addition, I assisted with pump efficiency tests on S.I.D. and private sector pumps, using the results to elicit information regarding water flow, energy usage, well drawdown, etc. Another key responsibility was the maintenance of several state CIMIS weather stations located in Solano County to ensure the continued accuracy and functionality of these meters. Compiled information and prepared reports on environmental regulations, farm land conservation, market trends, and other agricultural issues. Designed and created an online survey to elicit relevant information from farmer-members. Assisted with administrative work, including office correspondence, drafting letters to California legislators and other officials, answering phones, delivering documents, and assisting with preparation for Ag Council meetings/events.
