Over the years, my job experience spans from (a) providing technical consultancy and conducting research in demography, solar energy systems, systems & control engineering, and the functional development of mammalian embryonic brain; (b) helping local companies in Singapore to develop corporate business development strategies; (c) developing economic forecasting models & conducting cost competitiveness studies; and (d) formulating international economic policies & negotiating international economic agreements for the government of Singapore. As the lead negotiator representing Singapore at the ASEAN Investment Forum and ASEAN Working Group in Industrial Cooperation over a decade, I was instrumental in pushing the envelope of these fora. And I was one of the key negotiation team members representing Singapore in the US-Singapore FTA and ASEAN-China FTA. In addition, I am dispensing trade advisory services, on a regular basis, to Singapore-based corporations to optimize and data-mine Singapore’s network of trade agreements and this has resulted in annual tariff savings of more than US$1 billion collectively from their global trade since 2011.
