Pivotal role building relations between the UK Government and the International Maritime Industry representatives operating with interests in the Middle East (ME) and Indian Ocean. Provides information and advice in accordance with MoD direction on all regional maritime security matters with a particular focus on counter-piracy matters. Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the ME region by providing specialist maritime industry information and advice to the UK military. Responsible for the effectiveness of the UKMTO operations room and subordinate staff. Briefs Masters and crew of merchant ships in regional ports to provide reassurance and advice, in accordance with MoD direction and industry Best Management Practice.
