About Christopher Lu

As I have ventured through my educational and professional career, every year I find myself meeting influential individuals, learning different perspectives, and questioning science and the world around me. My intrapersonal journey and growing interpersonal knowledge allows me to align my professional and personal aspirations to make the world a better place by supporting and fighting for the individuals who are underserved and/or underrepresented. Approaching this goal, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. My passion is to advance the field of drug delivery to facilitate improvements in drug targeting, enhancements in cargo delivery, and advancements in multimodal drug assemblies. In my free time, my interests and hobbies include hanging out with friends, building my investment portfolio, and photography. I would love to connect with others in the pharmaceuticals sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering, and biotechnology fields, please feel free to personal message me through LinkedIn!Social Media:Instagram: @clu_phdTwitter: Chris_Lu_PhD

    Student Researcher - Dunman Lab
University Of Rochester Medical Center Aug 2021 - Oct 2021
    Rochester, New York, United States
My undergraduate research experience in Dr. Paul Dunman's lab provided me exposure to microbiology research where I performed and designed different minimum and fractional inhibitory concentration testing of different antibiotics including mupirocin and neomycin on S. aureus.
  • Regeneron
    Research Program Management (Rpm) Intern
    Regeneron May 2021 - Aug 2021
    Tarrytown, New York, United States
My internship in Regeneron's RPM department focused on general research support and reagent tracking where I learned about the antibody drug discovery and development process at Regeneron from immunization and the VelociSuite technologies to purification and assay development.
  • Sling Health
    Design Engineer
    Sling Health May 2020 - Dec 2020
St. Louis City County, Missouri, United States
My Sling Health COVID-19 Bootcamp experience allowed me to collaborate with undergraduate, master's, and medical students to design and provisionally patent (Patent App. Number: 63/037,928) a novel oxygen mask for use in hospitals during the extubation procedure of infectious patients. Following the Bootcamp, I performed researched into 3D-printing, silicone injection molding, and double-shot molding process which allowed me to repurpose the project through the University of Rochester's Ain Center for Entrepreneurship innov8 program. Altogether, despite receiving over $4,000 in prize and organizational funding, the project concluded after inability to garner additional funding to test our device and the business model proved difficult to put into practice given new COVID-19 PPE, prevention, and treatments.
