As I have ventured through my educational and professional career, every year I find myself meeting influential individuals, learning different perspectives, and questioning science and the world around me. My intrapersonal journey and growing interpersonal knowledge allows me to align my professional and personal aspirations to make the world a better place by supporting and fighting for the individuals who are underserved and/or underrepresented. Approaching this goal, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. My passion is to advance the field of drug delivery to facilitate improvements in drug targeting, enhancements in cargo delivery, and advancements in multimodal drug assemblies. In my free time, my interests and hobbies include hanging out with friends, building my investment portfolio, and photography. I would love to connect with others in the pharmaceuticals sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering, and biotechnology fields, please feel free to personal message me through LinkedIn!Social Media:Instagram: @clu_phdTwitter: Chris_Lu_PhD

Student Researcher | Whasil Lee LabUniversity Of Rochester Mar 2022 - May 2023Rochester, New York, United StatesMy undergraduate research experience in Dr. Whasil Lee's lab focused on generating programs in MATLAB that performed point-based alignment, quantified dead cell area, counted chondrocytes, and outputted analyzed figures and graphs for confocal microscopy image data generated by the lab. -
Student Researcher | Mcgrath Lab/Nanomembrane Research GroupUniversity Of Rochester Jan 2022 - May 2023Rochester, New York, United StatesMy undergraduate research experience in Dr. James McGrath's lab allowed me to test the microfluidics properties of micro- and nano-porous membrane devices to support the membrane's effectiveness as a diagnostic tool. Additionally, I generated computational models to visualize the membrane structure and analyze S. Aureus growth patterns. Furthermore, I created an efficient system to organize the design, ordering, shipping, and tracking process of porous membrane devices both with collaborators within the university and external collaborators. -
Undergraduate Teaching AssistantUniversity Of Rochester Aug 2021 - May 2023Rochester, New York, United StatesMy time as a teaching assistant (TA) included BME201 (Biomechanics), BME210 (Biosystems & Circuits), BME230 (Signals, Systems, & Imaging), MKT203 (Principles of Marketing), BME221 (Biomedical Computation & Statistics). Throughout these TA experiences, I hosted weekly office hours for problem set and exam assistance, graded problem sets, and facilitated computational and technical labs. -
Velocigene InternRegeneron May 2022 - Aug 2022Tarrytown, New York, United StatesMy internship in Regeneron's Velocigene Department allowed me to develop my stem cell culture experience as I optimized protocols for directed differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells into mesenchymal stem cells which were subsequently differentiated into chondrogenic, osteogenic, and adipogenic cell lines for disease modeling. -
Student Researcher - Dunman LabUniversity Of Rochester Medical Center Aug 2021 - Oct 2021Rochester, New York, United StatesMy undergraduate research experience in Dr. Paul Dunman's lab provided me exposure to microbiology research where I performed and designed different minimum and fractional inhibitory concentration testing of different antibiotics including mupirocin and neomycin on S. aureus. -
Research Program Management (Rpm) InternRegeneron May 2021 - Aug 2021Tarrytown, New York, United StatesMy internship in Regeneron's RPM department focused on general research support and reagent tracking where I learned about the antibody drug discovery and development process at Regeneron from immunization and the VelociSuite technologies to purification and assay development. -
Design EngineerSling Health May 2020 - Dec 2020St. Louis City County, Missouri, United StatesMy Sling Health COVID-19 Bootcamp experience allowed me to collaborate with undergraduate, master's, and medical students to design and provisionally patent (Patent App. Number: 63/037,928) a novel oxygen mask for use in hospitals during the extubation procedure of infectious patients. Following the Bootcamp, I performed researched into 3D-printing, silicone injection molding, and double-shot molding process which allowed me to repurpose the project through the University of Rochester's Ain Center for Entrepreneurship innov8 program. Altogether, despite receiving over $4,000 in prize and organizational funding, the project concluded after inability to garner additional funding to test our device and the business model proved difficult to put into practice given new COVID-19 PPE, prevention, and treatments. -
Student Researcher | Buckley Soft Tissue Biomechanics LabUniversity Of Rochester Dec 2019 - Sep 2020Rochester, New York AreaMy undergraduate research experience in Dr. Mark Buckley's lab allowed me to investigate the effect of various phacoemulsification devices on corneal endothelial cell death. During this process, I aided in updating and obtaining accreditation for the phacoemulsification procedure protocol. -
Project Manager Team LeadLange Innovations Jul 2020 - Aug 2020Cuba, Missouri, United StatesMy internship at Lange Innovations focused on investigating the costs, degree of compatibility, and biochemical viability of plastics, polymers, fibers, and hydrogels for use in designing the medication retention layer of a specialized condom intended for patients with erectile dysfunction.

SellerMarie Blachère Us Mar 2019 - Aug 2019Great Neck, New YorkMy part-time work experience at the Marie Blachère Bakery & Café Long Island location allowed me to gain experience in servicing customers as a counter attendant, barista, cashier, and cleaner in an assembly-line-based system. Additionally, I was able to streamlined phone ordering process, participated in enhancing product and stock reporting processes, and oversaw the hiring process of new workers. -
Student Researcher | Feschotte LabCornell University Jun 2018 - Aug 2018Ithaca, New York AreaMy summer research experience in Dr. Cedric Feschotte's lab exposed me to biotechnological research on the domestication of a foreign retrotransposon as the protein-coding Arc gene in the zebrafish genome using genome sequence analysis, phylogenetic tree diagrams, and protein folding analysis. Additionally, I worked on side projects to analyze protein-coding and noncoding regions across 6 specific transposon families to uncover patterns between genomes and built upon lab-developed Perl code to locate protein-coding genes present in the zebrafish protein database. For my research, I was recognized as a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar and won 1st Place in Bioengineering & Computational Biology at the NSPC Health Sciences Competition.
