Hi, I’m Chris Smith and I’m a software developer. I am currently attending a coding bootcamp at Tech Elevator where I am learning skills in Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Vue.js, PostgreSQL and Git. My strengths are learning, improving, working hard and overcoming challenges. While in role I developed skills in customer service, team management and sales. During my time in retail, I helped create, test and deploy a new company training program. I also earned 3 “Achievers” awards (the top 10% overall performance) and was featured in the company newsletter for outstanding customer service. I was recognized by the CEO and President of Retail on separate occasions and was featured in an employee engagement video on the internal learning network.In addition to my retail experience, I also have experience as a small business owner. This experience taught me a lot about keeping clients happy, purchasing products, collecting payments, creating marketing materials, determining the value of goods, creating images of products, identifying strategic business opportunities, and developing business plans.In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, hiking in nature and taking and editing nature photographs. I also enjoy playing video games with friends. I converted a van into a tiny home which I use to travel the country. These hobbies show that I have a creative side and enjoy spending time in nature. They also show that I am resourceful and have experience with DIY projects.I’m excited to bring these skills to a new industry and learn more about web development.
