About Christopher Macnamara
Hi there, my name is Chris. I'm a Data Modeler, Software Engineer, and former secondary educator with degrees in Computer Science and Secondary Education. I spent the first seven years of my professional career as a teacher of both high school Spanish and Computer Science and found great joy in empowering others with my knowledge and life experiences. I’ve always been drawn to designing experiences that open others’ minds to new possibilities and perspectives, whether that be through a fun lesson plan that compares cultural perspectives, drumming as a freelance musician, or writing web apps that inform users about Norse mythology while engaging them in a fun game. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, and after teaching remotely through the pandemic came to understand that my interests and priorities had shifted. I became more and more drawn to the idea of adding value to this world not through secondary education, but rather through working with others to develop meaningful, interesting software applications. To that end, I completed General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive Bootcamp in June '23 to improve my software development skills. Since then I've been diving headfirst into the world of Data Modeling at General Dynamics Electric Boat and am thrilled to have landed on a path that aligns with my interests and values.Don't hesitate to say hi!
