Compliance support role which includes application of strategic planning, prioritization and project management skills toward consistently achieving critical deadlines while maintaining high quality standards. Maintain full accountability for executing all facets of monthly air emission calculations for sources as part of the permit requirements for the Sweeny and Clemens Terminal. Project Team participation to evaluate permitting options and optimizing the sites. Input of Greenhouse Gas calculations. Update management on preparations and submittals for spills, Title V Deviation Reports, Title V monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports, excess emissions reporting, monthly DMR, PBR, NSR and LDAR compliance reporting. Conduct training with Environmental Engineers to teach MSS reporting and calculations to Production/Process Engineers. Participation in EHS audits to help improve reporting systems and compliance. Manage the Environmental Database used for compliance records. Coordination of stack testing and engine testing with contractors and plant personnel. Monitor CEMS and HRVOC CEMS data within Pavilion software.

Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.  Monitor the collection of all wastes at the plant site and take appropriate action to assure compliance with regulations. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the site Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) Systems. Monitoring of the air quality in accordance with Title V compliance in and around the plant and take appropriate action to limit excursions emitted from stacks and to assure environmental compliance. Knowledge of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and all outfall measurements. Monitoring of the condition of the reservoir dam and make appropriate recommendations for continued maintenance of the structure and instrumentation. Interface with environmental agency personnel during onsite inspections and visits. Provide accurate and detailed documentation of all of the above activities, make the required reports in the proper timeframe and assure accuracy of the reports following transmission of those reports to regulatory agencies.  Communicate and troubleshooting problems concerning environmental compliance and assist in solving these issues with appropriate parties. Operate of the facilitation of a make-up water system, RO water treatment system, wastewater treatment system, and the condenser circulation water system.

• Responsibilities included performing water analysis testing for a better understanding of the different minerals that effect fracturing fluid. Various test were perform such as pH test, chloride determination titration, carbonate and bicarbonate determination titration , iron testing, silica testing using the HACH test kit, water hardness determination, sulfate testing, total dissolved solids determination, and bacteria testing using the Uni-Lite Biotrace unit. Quality control analysis of frac fluid additives was performed by testing the pH, specific gravity, and viscosity of certain additives. Performed slickwater compatibility of friction reducer and location water with Fann 35 viscometer. Performed SXE emulsion test with an 70% hydrochloric acid, 30% diesel, and an emulsifying agent such as U108 which is a combination of ethane-1,2-diol and acetic acid. Proppant evaluation was done using sand seive analysis. Bench testing was performed with a specific fluid to understand which chemicals will alter the characteristic of the fluid, such as a longer or shorter delay on a crosslinked fluid. Some of the additives used were J580, F110, Choline Chloride, U028, and J604. Fann 50 rheologies were performed on crosslinked fluids at various temperatures to simulate high temperature and high pressure activity that is performed in the field during hydraulic fracturing. These tests were run as basline runs with just the chemical additives and with the addition of encapsulated and nonencapsulated breakers which reduce polymer viscosity and permit fracture clean-up when a job is completed. Calibration of pH meters and Fann 50 rheometer were performed each week and maintenance of the Fann 50 rheometers is performed to reduce company cost from outside contractors. Lab reports were developed on all data and put into LabCAT database. Member of the Loss prevention team that helps reduce risks and accidents around the workplace.

• Responsibilities included helping and overseeing 5 lab technicians with various lab methods in the testing of catalyst derived from platinum, nickel, and tungsten. Calibration of analytical instruments such as titrators, densitometers, and conductivity meters for use by lab technicians and operators. Ran x-ray methods and monitors on ground catalyst using x-ray fluorescence instrumentation. Perform length and diameter testing on fresh catalyst. Performed crush test on catalyst using Lloyds, Erweka, and Chattilon PCS methods. Use of gas chromatography to perform injections into micro reactor for analysis of cyclar catalyst material. Used and calibrated UV-VIS spectrophotometers to test the platinum contents in samples that were brought into the lab. Performed density test on sol mixtures in the densitometers. Used and calibrated 2 ICP-OES instruments to test for metal analysis in the samples that were brought into the lab. All the sample data was placed into the LIMS database. Maintained and inspected the laboratory each week to keep a clean work environment.

• Research based on solid state chemistry. Synthesized nanosized NiO from nickel propenoate for study of electrochemical properties in lithium ion batteries. Used the metal oxides lithium carbonate, lithium nickel oxide and strem lithium carbonate to produce cathode material. Particle size of the compounds was determined by XRD. Calculated the activation energy of nickel propenoate from various temperature settings using TGA (Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis). Developed electrolytes used in formation of coin cell batteries. Tested the life span of the batteries that were produced.
