NEATO is a 'Job Services Australia' contract service provider. My role involved creating work-for-the-dole opportunities for long-term unemployed people. This was achieved by cold calling not-for-profit organisations, councils and educational institutions in the Cairns area as well as the Cassowary Coast and Tablelands. As a result of my efforts in my short time there the available placements for volunteers more than doubled with it set to double again when I left at the end of the short term contract.

MEGT was the new contractor in the area providing Australian Apprenticeship Services to far North Queensland. My task was to develope a team of highly skilled professionals to provide outstanding Australian Apprenticeship Centre services to the employers of the Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Tablelands and Northern Area Penninsular regions. It is our privilege to be advocating and facilitating apprenticeships and traineeships to improve skill levels in our workplaces. My success was shown by the fact that all targets were met and exceeded.

Queensland Apprenticeship Services (QAS) was contracted by the Federal Government to provide Australian Apprenticeship Centre services in Far North Queensland. Mine was a 'Field Officer' role, signing up Australian Apprentices and Trainees in Cairns, on the Cassowary Coast and on the Cape York Penninsular. My time with QAS came to an end when their contract ended on 30 June 2012.

Building relationships with local business owners in order to gain orders; developed a database of over 2,000 individual business as a result of intensive personal visitation programme.

A period of self employment consulting to the vocational education and training sector providing strategic thinking and analytical services.

I was invited by the NZ Retailers Association to attempt a rescue and re-establishment of this previously failed statutory organisation. In my 7 years leading the Retail ITO, it grew from just one employee to 25 in 4 different locations, trebled the membership and government funding ($5M in revenues in 2007) and enrolled over 22,000 individual trainees.By many the task of rescuing the Retail ITO was considered an impossibility but by conceiving of and making operational an innovative approach to the role of the organisation, building an effective team of talented and passionate people, and developing an attractive product and economic model that was attractive to employers, we did it!
