Principal Investigator on Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program with U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armament Center (CCDC-AC) to develop high speed, low cost SWIR imager for deployment on munitions. Program Manager on multiple Phase II SBIRs with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. Wrote multiple winning Phase I and Phase II SBIR proposals and secured follow-on Phase II Enhancement award from MDA. Provide laboratory characterization of semiconductor quantum efficiency, dark current, and other electro-optical properties. Developed and rolled out company compliance with new DFARS 252.204-7012 / NIST 800-171 Cybersecurity requirements.

Led diverse cross-functional teams representing Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, Design, Logistics, and Procurement to execute New Product Development of new Chinaware products.

Managed new development efforts to implement patented Iris on the Move (IOM) technology in new consumer products. Partnered with large multinational corporations to become OEM iris recognition hardware and software supplier. Highlights included:• Developed low size, weight, power, and cost iris recognition module for implementation in KEES digital door locks for use in residential apartment buildings for Korea Technology & Communications Co. Winner of 2015 ASIS Accolades Security’s Best Award and 2015 ISC West New Product Showcase Award for Locks. Managed development from initial conception through production transfer to contract manufacturer.• Managed 15-person multi-disciplinary team to integrate iris recognition technology in Samsung mobile devices. Developed iris recognition algorithm optimized for use in inexpensive, low quality optical systems. Consulted with Samsung on hardware design. Successfully implemented new algorithms and hardware in customized Samsung TabPro 8.4 tablet sold to enterprise customers. Leveraged program success to win series of successive program follow-on contract awards and lucrative licensing deals.Additional responsibilities:• Member of Process Action Team to develop and implement standardized program management and product development processes and templates.• Member of steering committee to review and test new corporate Human Capital Management software tools and procedures.

Managed portfolio of programs focused on military-rugged and high definition SWIR camera products from initial conception through development, qualification testing, commercialization, and on-going customer support to obsolescence. Accountable for developing and executing product line roadmap incorporating customer feedback, business goals, and market trends. Highlights included:• Managed development and launch of next generation high resolution SWIR camera product family using $4.8M of internal corporate research and development funding. Developed, qualified, and market launched 8 new commercial camera models including the industry’s first megapixel SWIR camera.• Led 18-person project team to successfully deliver low power megapixel SWIR camera to US Department of Defense customer within the $1.6M budget and 20-month schedule. Camera used 70% less power than comparable commercial products.• Managed $1.7M, 12-month program for miniaturized SWIR camera for high profile US Department of Defense customer. Transitioned developments from program into new SWIR camera product line featuring small Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) imagers and electronics.• Coordinated internal resources and technology development with external optics partner to deliver on $380k, 18-month program for multispectral SWIR cameras to US Department of Defense customer. Leveraged process developments from program to launch new commercial product line resulting in $1M incremental sales from 4 new clients within the first year.• Managed new feature implementation and product improvement projects to sustain military-rugged SWIR product line designed specifically for Tier I military supplier totaling $3.0M/year in sales.• Site lead for the development and roll-out of organization-wide Integrated Product Development Process aimed at reducing cycle time and project risk for new product introductions.• Wrote proposals and white papers leading to $3.2M in new contract awards.

Served as technology team leader managing pilot plant testing for HCAT oil hydrocracking additive. Efforts led to HCAT achieving milestone of commercial acceptance by heavy oil refiners, resulting in $12M/year of catalyst sales. Responsibilities included:• Developed, scheduled, and monitored pilot plant test runs, including unit fabrication, start-up, operations, data analysis, and documentation.• Provided on-site technical support for commercial trials at client refineries, including multiple month-long catalyst trials at commercial client in Finland.• Supported business development activities, including technical support at customer design reviews and presentation of papers at industry conferences.• Technical lead for the development of new NxCAT coal combustion catalyst to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions at power plants.
