Dr. Martin is the founding director of Global Engagement at the Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University, overseeing international partnerships for all 5 component schools. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). He has directed Public Health coursework for medical students, currently serves as Program Director for the Occupational and Environmental Medicine residency and Designated Institutional Official in the School of Public Health. He has served as the Principal Investigator of a Training Project Grant from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and a Preventive Medicine Residency Training Program Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, leading to the establishment of the first and only Public Health - General Preventive Medicine residency in Appalachia. He has provided lectures and workshops on topics in Occupational Medicine, Public Health, and Medical Education in multiple countries.
