I was a member of Dr. Elizabeth Crook's GIS research group. I investigated the use of satellite imagery to monitor deforestation caused by oil palm cultivation in Cameroon over time. This project taught me about remote sensing, how to pre-process satellite imagery in SNAP (Sentinel Application Platform), how to dabble in machine learning algorithms like random forest, and how to improve my ArcGIS skills. In addition, I developed (and still developing) educational materials for use in environmental data science curricula pertaining to environmental justice quantitative analysis issues.

Learned the fluid dynamical processes that govern the Atlantic Ocean, specifically the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), through literature review and group meetings.
