As a Teach First participant, I was employed as a primary school teacher alongside a PGDE study at Birmingham City University. I was responsible for planning, delivering and executing an early year’s education to a high standard in guidance with the EYFS curriculum. In my second season, I worked as a Youth Specialist on board the independence of the seas. I was responsible for the safety, care, and amusement of children, aged 6 months to 17 years, on board. I worked within a dynamic team delivering a wide variety of activities including sports, drama, games, sciences, and arts and crafts. I also specialised in the programming, training and development of the youth staff team onboard. I received a nomination for employee of the month out of thousands of staff which was a thrilling personal achievement and recognition of my hard work onboard. I reported to my line manager identifying areas of concern, achievement and company protocol.

In my third season with the YMCA, I worked for Camp Fuller as a one of the top 5 Directors in the senior leadership team. This new role involved the delivery of company training, development and performance management of staff alongside logistics, administrative duties and events planning. The role provided me with a greater understanding of business management, business expectation and enhanced my skills as a communicator at a Director level. Other duties I had undertaken included; budget management, facility management, conflict resolution and interlinking schedules with other camps and retreat centres.

As a Sport Specialist for Royal Caribbean Cruise line my main responsibilities included risk assessments, coaching, marketing, sales and delivery of private flow rider lessons. Working for such a large company developed my skills in team building, dedication to others and providing an upbeat and friendly approach to work. Other duties I undertook included; sports instructing, conflict resolution, adherence to company policy and prioritising safety at sea. In addition, I co-ordinated, planned and executed the Autism of the Seas programme.
