Christopher Mead taught from 1980 to 2013 at the University of New Mexico, where he held a joint appointment as Regents’ Professor of Architecture and Professor of Art History; he now holds those ranks as an emeritus professor. From 2004 to 2009, he served as Dean of the College of Fine Arts, when he helped establish a new Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media Program at the University of New Mexico. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of California at Riverside, and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. A past President of the Society of Architectural Historians, he has written and lectured widely on European and American architecture and urbanism, including books on the architects Robert Venturi, Bart Prince, Charles Garnier, and Antoine Predock and Victor Baltard. He is currently researching a book on Japanese architecture, called Hypospace.Specialties: History of modern architecture and urbanism with concentrations on European, American and Japanese modern architecture.
