About Christopher Moe

Micromanagement is often the byproduct of a lack of trust. As a leader, if you don’t trust your team, then you believe you have to stay on top of every little detail. This happens when you have a lack of leadership skills, ineffective training and communication and no focus on team mentorship skills. It is rarely the fault of the team being micromanaged. As a leader, I place a heavy emphasis on training and communication. This outlook on leadership is likely due to my experience being focused in technical training, workforce development and most recently, directing the delivery of the 20 courses that taught all of the Air Force’s logistics leaders. I started my USAF career as an enlisted technician. I quickly excelled and learned my craft so well that I was one of the first technicians selected to launch the new F-22 program and then was asked to be a trainer, teaching other technicians their craft. When I became an officer and progressed into higher level leadership roles, I never forgot what it was like to be a technician receiving directives that made no logical sense. I am a strategic thinker and proactive planner who constantly seeks innovative methods and process improvements. I am dedicated and hardworking and bring extensive experience leading, motivating, mentoring and inspiring large diverse teams to achieve results in a high-volume environment with demanding deadlines. As I prepare to wrap up my USAF leadership career in January of 2024 and pursue SkillBridge internships as early as July of 2023, I am looking to leverage my operations leadership experience and team building skills into a new role for the next phase of my career. I can be reached at moe.christopher@yahoo.com to discuss any opportunities.

Director Of Operations

Current

I directed all aspects of operations for a logistics training program. With 32 instructors, this program delivered 20 courses to 2,200 students annually, including students from 53 foreign partners. I oversaw all HR programs, including staffing allocation, training and administrative actions. My service commitment to the USAF will be complete with this role in January of 2024. I am available for a SkillBridge opportunity as early as July of 2023.➥ Serving as the leader of the training program, I synthesized the senior leaders’ vision and strategically planned and improved curriculum after evaluating training requirements and instructional trends.➥ I managed the instructor and course schedules while directing the delivery of training via lecture, distance learning and hands-on instruction for courses up to 72 days long. Assessing student performance, I wrote evaluations and counseled all 2K+ students and staff.➥ Serving as a leader in innovative practices, the training program was the first to use a competency-based education model. I used scientific evaluation methods to measure and report on the effectiveness of the new program. ➥ I oversaw a $14.8M facility and led the acquisition process for new equipment, such as a $3.8M simulator that enhanced learning and better prepared students for success.➥ The distance learning programs I created not only provided students with foundational knowledge but also better prepared them for training, expedited learning and enabled a 100% graduation rate.

Oct 2021 - Present

Deputy Director Of Training

I taught 9 courses that instructed initial and intermediate skills to 120+ logistics and maintenance leaders across the USAF and foreign militaries. I planned instructor schedules for 12 trainers, guided instructional methods, developed course materials and served as a mentor and academic counselor.➥ I co-authored a standard operating procedure that guided the implementation of a new competency-based training method. ➥ I identified outdated and redundant curriculum content and introduced innovations, such as gamification, that shortened training up to 5 days and generated a 12% cost savings. ➥ Leading a $20K procurement project that brought virtual reality (VR) technology to training, I enabled students to have a more hands-on, tactical experience.➥ I partnered with Tesseract, the USAF innovation team, to secure funding that better prepared training facilitators to lead engaging lectures in the classroom.

Nov 2020 - Oct 2021

Director Of Maintenance Operations

I oversaw maintenance operations that enabled a team of 452 technicians to provide 24/7 maintenance and repair actions for a multibillion-dollar aircraft fleet. Providing strategic planning, human resources, supply chain forecasting, logistics and resource allocation, I managed the safety and accountability of $160M facilities and equipment assets.➥ As a strategic leader, I gained team buy-in for new initiatives, training programs and following policies and procedures that ensured safety and quality standards.➥ I analyzed maintenance quality and performance metrics to recognize trends, determine root causes of issues and recommend corrective measures.➥ Leveraging personal technical knowledge, I served as a communication link between senior leaders and technicians. ➥ I led the production management of the busiest airfield that supported overseas combat operations. My strategic plans ensured customer needs were met while also completing thousands of annual maintenance and repair tasks. ➥ Overseeing logistics and supply chain forecasting, I analyzed data to identify root causes of shortages and procured resources to ensure daily production goals were met.➥ When I took over a struggling team, I implemented new initiatives to build a more cohesive environment that included collaborative two-way communication.

Oct 2013 - Nov 2020

Propulsion Maintenance Technical Instructor / Propulsion Systems Specialist

For 6 years, I served as a propulsion systems specialist and was selected as one of the first technicians to work on the F-22 aircraft propulsion systems right out of initial skills training. For the next 4 years, I returned to the school as an instructor to teach F-15 and A-10 propulsion courses and assist with supporting the training center for F119 engines.➥ I provided lectures on theory, operation, maintenance and technical troubleshooting and simplified complex technical concepts into understandable terms.➥ After a training program received negative student feedback, I turned the program around when I created an interactive learning environment. I served as a mentor for 4 new instructors in training methods and lesson planning. ➥ I taught and enforced safety guidelines such as OSHA, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazardous materials handling and foreign object damage (FOD) prevention.
