After graduating with a Medical Master's degree in Human Nutrition from The University of Sheffield, I have worked in the clinical operations research field for over 11 years across a number of different companies such as CRO, Biotech and consultancy firms. I have worked on a variety of study designs such as SAD/MAD, AME, First In Human, Dose Escalation, TQT, DDI and many more. The therapeutic areas I have mostly worked in include healthy volunteer trials, neurology, GI, respiratory, and oncology. I have worked on many phases in drug development but primarily in phase I/II. Initially starting out at a large CRO, I progressed through many hands on clinical roles, ended in a managerial role, successfully leading a team of clinical study leads and coordinators. Working in an early phase unit that completed 20-30 phase I trials a year, I learnt to work at a fast pace and with working on many different projects, I had a rapid learning curve in the world on early phase clinical trials. I then progressed with a small UK biotech running their Phase I and Phase II trials in the UK and the US. I worked on the study close down processes for our phase II GI product; the study conduct activities of our phase I/II respiratory product and the study set-up activities of of neurology product. Managing the multiple CRO teams and vendors, I was able to play a significant role in the successes of these projects, including bringing in timelines and bringing the study costs down through the prioritization of tasks and review of the study details. Today I work in a UK consultancy firm, assisting our clients with project management capabilities and work on a mixture of small and large scale projects. The majority of my projects in this role are involving interventional phase I/II studies with gene therapies and other ATMPs but I have also worked on some small molecule and non-interventional trial projects.I have gained skills in Project Management and the ability to deliver clinical trial projects on time and within budget.
