Current projects:1. Determining accessory subunit dynamics, stoichiometry and interactions in the cardiac slow delayed rectifier potassium channel complex (IKS) using unnatural amino acids.2. Mapping the binding site of the fast inactivation gate in the cardiac voltage gated sodium channel (Nav1.5) using a photocrosslinking unnatural amino acid and mass spectrometry.Past and future interests include:- The role of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in the regulation of cardiac function and pathogenesis through the modification of redox-switch networks.- Redox-modulation of cardiac myofilament proteins and mechanisms of calcium sensitization.- Modulation of nitric oxide stimulated cGMP signaling by S-nitrosylation.- Characterizing the dynamics of redox-regulated protein-protein interactions. Current Funding:Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship (289812) Title: Investigating the impact of beta-subunit interactions on voltage gated potassium channel regulation using unnatural amino acid mutagenesis and mass spectrometry.
