Veteran Outreach Program Specialist
CurrentConducts outreach specifically to: identify program eligible veterans and their family members, promote the use of the Vet Center Services, and present education programs about combat veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs and Readjustment Counseling Service.Establishes outreach services with Military Installations, Reserve, and National Guard facilities within a designated geographical area; provides transitional assistance program briefings to Military, Reserve, and National Guard personnel transitioning from active duty; Provides consultation and training to community service agencies, e.g. police, parole officers, and social agencies, etc., on combat veterans; provides educational seminars to veterans and their families on stress management, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Family Communications, Anger Management, Benefits and other topics relevant to readjustment issues. Organizes and participates in a myriad of community activities and events that have high probability of GWOT Veterans present.Assists patients, their families and representatives, and facility staff members in recognizing and removing institutional barriers to the provision of optimum readjustments counseling to GWOT Veterans.The resolution of client problems which arise. Prepare and maintain clients records/administrative records and reports.
