Since 2005, I have been an educator, curriculum developer, and instructional designer in both the public and private sector. As an Advanced Placement teacher in one of the largest schools in the state of Florida, I learned the value of engaging with every learner and the importance of being detail-oriented. The process of earning my Masters degree in Instructional Design and Technology has helped me expand on this experience by providing a solid background in design process best practices, collaboration, and the importance of the effective use of learning theory. This blend of experience and education has been essential in informing both my design style, as well as my approach to solving the common problems that come with both andragogy and pedagogy. My work in curriculum development has given me unique insight into the importance of developing a learner-centric instructional model that seeks to merge technology and learning theory in a way that befits the 21st century. Through my experiences as a teacher, I have learned the importance of using evidence-based methodology to produce maximum results. Developing new curriculum from the ground up is a process that requires in-depth analysis, smart design, and effective implementation. The key to successful training and instruction is engaging the learner. This simple idea has formed the cornerstone of my learning philosophy and helps to inform every design decision I make.
