About Christopher Oakley
I am passionate about animation, teaching, art, and history. I teach Animation as well as 3D Modeling/Lighting/Rendering at UNC Asheville. I also teach a very popular History of Animation course that attracts between 130 and 160 students each Spring. I served as Chair of New Media for four years.For the past several years I've led an undergraduate research endeavor at UNC Asheville called "The Virtual Lincoln Project," in which we're bringing a digital Abraham Lincoln to life to recite The Gettysburg Address. The project has garnered national and international attention, aided by my discovery of a possible previously unknown image of Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg.I have been a character animator at Disney, DreamWorks, Rhythm & Hues, and a director of animation on "Pee-wee's Playhouse," several commercials, and at EA Games. I also animated "Into the Groove" for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet world tour.
