• Managing a varied and complex portfolio of circa 250 Casualty pre-litigation files.• Multi-sector, but primarily heavy construction, trades and leisure.• Dealing with all aspects of the claim to include policy coverage, indemnity assessment, liability, subrogation/recovery, causation, fraud/fundamental dishonesty, quantum and costs.• Handling claims with a value up to £150k, with a delegated authority of £75,000. • Technical referral point to junior fee earners, providing coaching, training and guidance when required.• Authorising claim payments.• Develop / maintain market knowledge and relations with carriers, underwriters, brokers, external loss adjusters and panel solicitors to ensure that SLA's are met and exceeded. • Assisting senior fee earners drafting witness statements, undertaking legal research, • Understanding of both the general and Lloyd's/London insurance markets, and of broker schemes.• Supporting the Unit head in relation of MI capture, streamlining working processes, and drafting pro-forma documents.

• Pro-actively managing a cross-sector caseload of approximately 200 pre-litigation Casualty EL, PL, product, housing disrepair and subsidence claims, holding reserves in excess of £250,000, with a delegated authority up to £100,000• Handle Part 8 Proceedings arising from Stage 3 EL/PL Portal Claims• Member of the Technical Unit managing a claims handling team; identifying technical training needs whilst recommending and delivering appropriate training solutions to meet performance requirements• Complete quarterly internal audits on all claims handlers to assess the competency and training requirements, and to ensure this is aligned with business objectives, strategy and priorities• Provide fair and reflective technical quality feedback upon each claims handler in anticipation of appraisals • Maintain quarterly internal audit records and ensure appropriate feedback is delivered and recorded to the Operations Manager• Continually keep Heads of Service Delivery, Claims Operations & Finance Managers abreast of quality changes and issues• Facilitate external client and insurer audits and deliver external audit feedback results• Casualty/IBG representative of the IT Transformation Project developing and implementing a new Claims Management System. Devising pre-litigation workflows, template correspondence and forms. Responsible for training employees how to use the new system• Delegated on behalf of Casualty/IBG to lead the EL/PL Portal extension project, devising workflows and advising on operational changes plus presenting to new and existing clients the intended changes brought by the portal and also MOJ/Jackson reforms• Assist the Client Relation Partners in the acquisition of new business and retention of existing clients by preparing and presenting tenders and attending frequent client and insurer review meetings• Part of recruitment selection team undertaking internal and external interviews
