I have worked at Atlas Box and Creating/ AGS (Atlas Global Solutions) for going on 9 years now on 3rd shift. I started as a floor employee running some of the heavy machines in the foam department. I insisted on learning everything I could in the department. Whenever we received any new equipment, I was always the first to put my hat in to learn it. After about 3 years I had learned everything in the department and, when the room divided into two departments, the supervisor of my department chose me as his lead. I worked with him for about 4 years doing everything that was needed. I would fill out reviews, put in requests to maintenance whenever a machine went down, fixed machines if they were within my ability, planned out the night to keep the 10 employees I worked with busy and productive, trained new employees, gave other employees new opportunities by training them on new machines, checked inventory to see if we had enough material to finish jobs, and made sure that any jobs that were needed to go out were completed before we ended the day. While doing all of those duties, I also had to check the quality of the product my fellow employees produced, move material to help increase production, and send jobs down to shipping to be put on trucks. Maintenance employees always came to me whenever they needed help with running a machine or if they needed detailed descriptions of the problems with the machines. When my boss quit, I ran my department as temporary supervisor for about 4 months without any complaints until they hired a new supervisor. That supervisor only lasted about 5 months before he was demoted and I was back to running the department for another month until they restructured the management and filled the position with another supervisor. Since then I have learned another 2 cnc machines (water jet and cam table) and am now training employees on technical machines.
