About Christopher Packard
I am a passionate and experienced teacher, writer, outdoor educator, storyteller, organizer, folklorist, and activist. I'm always looking for ways to make meaningful connections that build a stronger community. Bringing people together and helping them grow as a group and as individuals is the most important gift we can share. Through my teaching, storytelling, and writing, I hope to share not only who I am with others but also help them to form a deeper connections with the place they live and their community. By combining nature, folklore, and humor I am often able to do just that.Teaching is my calling, and I proudly serve my local community as a full-time Science Teacher at Bangor High School. But I am always looking to make additional connections to spread my reach as a storytelling, writer, and educator beyond my chosen career.

An exhaustive compilation of the folklore of creatures and beings of folklore in Maine and the surrounding areas of New England and Canada. In the form of an illustrated encyclopedia it examines all aspects of over 40 mysterious creatures in Maine. Creatures include modern cryptids like Bigfoot though mostly it focuses on older, more culturally specific myths and legends from lumberjacks, guides, early European immigrants, and the indigenous Wabanaki. While written for the general audience, it has over 100 academic references and is simultaneously a scholarly and traditionally folksy and whimsical look at these creatures.
