About Christopher Patton

After twenty-odd years teaching creative writing and literature to undergrads at liberal arts schools, I've enrolled in the Museum Studies program at the University of Toronto, where I'll focus on exhibition design, curation, collection management, public programming, and book history and print culture. Adding these new proficiencies to my experience writing, teaching, and editing, I hope to find a position in a museum or an exhibiting library. I write, translate, and make digital art. I have five books in the world, most recently "Dumuzi" (Gaspereau 2020), a volume of poems, and "Unlikeness Is Us" (Gaspereau 2018), a book of translations from Old English. "Unlikeness" received a 2019 American Book Award. Recently I've been making visual poems, some of which have appeared or are forthcoming in DIAGRAM, Asymptote, Ancient Exchanges, and juried exhibitions at the Whatcom Museum and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. I've received grants and awards from the Canada Council, Paris Review, Western Humanities Review, and the University of Utah, and completed residencies at Yaddo and MacDowell.
