My name is Christopher Payne. Currently, I am a Commodities Administration Specialist Assistant at NYSID (New York State Industries for the Disabled).Before working at NYSID, I earned an A.A.S. in Business Administration and graduated with honors from Hudson Valley Community College. During my time at Hudson Valley, I wrote for the student newspaper, The Hudsonian. After graduating from Hudson Valley, I decided to pursue a degree in journalism at the University at Albany. As a UAlbany student, I wrote pieces for the Albany Student Press on various topics, including events on campus. Also, I volunteered for Skribblers Magazine, where I edited submissions, including stories and artwork, and provided feedback to grade school students about their work. I interned at the New York State Writers Institute where I greeted guests at events, developed web pages for the website, generated ideas at meetings, and created digital and social media content for events. I have acquired skills in Microsoft Office, web design, social media, and Adobe throughout my time in college. While in school, I have developed strong time and project management skills. People have described me as detail-oriented and conscientious.As an individual with high functioning autism, I understand the challenges that people with disabilities face in different environments. I am familiar with offices such as the Center for Access and Assistive Technology at Hudson Valley and the Disability Resource Center at UAlbany. In addition, I have worked with people from different backgrounds to complete tasks. I am capable of working independently or with a group of people to create new and engaging content.Currently at NYSID, my goal is to help individuals with disabilities achieve their dreams!
