+ Hired by Jeannine Dorothy to help prevent the spread of viral diseases such as West Nile and Eastern Equestrian, and to remove insect annoyances from the general public. + Field work included monitoring likely mosquito-breeding areas in Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties, applying pesticides to terrains such as lowland areas, culverts, ditches, and stagnant-water areas on public property, responding to mosquito complaints on private property, and surveying and mapping these areas. + All activities are documented, including location with times of departure and arrival, and type and amount of pesticide used per area. Back-checks are conducted on the treated areas to determine any aftereffects the pesticides may or may not have on local flora and fauna.

+ Hired by Dr. Harold Avery to assist his Drexel graduate students in their doctoral field work on the Diamondback Terrapin population at Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. + Field work included maintaining and piloting the boats to trapping locations on the marsh, being knowledgeable about the nearby ecosystems, handling the terrapins, transporting them and volunteers from the station to the field and back, preparing equipment, and general assistance as needed. + Lab work included taking measurements of gender, size, weight, color of the terrapins in terms of visual light and the UV spectrum, as well as shell characteristics and deformities, drawing blood from the terrapins, applying and monitoring biotelemetry devices to the terrapins, and conducting an overall population study.
