Air Freight Operations Manager
Foreman, Air Freight
Supervises subordinates to ensure cargo is loaded safely and promptly. These duties ensure aircraft meet mission requirements. Exercises technical/administrative supervision over subordinates in accomplishing trades and labor work for air freight loading. Plans use of personnel, equipment, facilities and materials. Plans work assignments according to customary work cycles. Tracks and reports work assignment progression. Recommends changes to schedule, priority and sequence as necessary and makes minor deviations in procedures or redirects resources to overcome issues. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Reports potential or actual work delays to superiors. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans. Advises employees of performance expectations, provides proper guidance, direction, and continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Appraises subordinates performance in accordance with regulations. Rewards or uses corrective action, as needed. Recommends and provides training based on needs assessment and mission requirements. Investigates grievances and complaints, resolving them informally where possible, and notifies superiors of those of sufficient importance or seriousness. Applies Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination. Takes action to prevent or correct situations that may give rise to complaints of discrimination and/or sexual harassment. Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in the work place. Reports all known security violations to the proper authority. Ensures safety equipment and protective gear are worn when mandated by regulations. Reports any condition which might pose a hazard to safety or health to the appropriate authority.
Hazardous Material Inspector Lead
Manages Special Handling programs to include: Additional Duty Weapons Safety Representative; Joint Inspection; and Security Programs. Schedules work assignments, conducts training, and ensures compliance with safety directives. Maintains, inspects, and processes movement of special handling cargo to include: whole blood; medical items; Human Remains; Class 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 explosives; refrigerated and non-refrigerated food supplies; registered mail; United States Customs cargo shipments; high priority shipments; and signature service and security cargo. Reviews manual and automated cargo inventories daily utilizing GATES. Inspects and certifies all shipments for proper packaging, markings and labels in accordance with Air Force Joint Manual 24-204, Preparation of Hazardous Materials for Air Shipment; Code of Federal Regulations, Hazardous Material Regulation (CFR 49); Air Transport Association (IATA), and other applicable regulations. Knowledge of DoD packaging requirements to include United Nations Specification Markings and Hazardous Materials Information File (HMIF). Conducts Joint Inspections (JI) for mobility, contingency and exercise missions. Maintains Hazardous Materials Preparation/Inspector certification. Operates and maintains forklifts (4,000 lb – 10,000 lb capacity), aircraft loading equipment to include: 60K Tunner and 25K Halvorsen Aircraft Loaders, and general purpose vehicles. Directed ground crew in the loading, unloading, securing and staging of aircraft cargo or baggage. Performed Load Team Chief duties while loading/unloading cargo and baggage on aircrafts. Computed restraint requirements and utilized proper tiedown equipment to secure cargo to aircraft loading equipment and aircraft. Ensured accurate sequence of cargo on aircraft loading equipment for proper weight and balance on aircrafts.
