Differentiated by its unique machine learning and big data processing algorithms, KNODE provided clients with a specialized professional enterprise social networking tool for identifying scientific and medical experts for scientific collaboration and medical advancement. Through its cloud-based platform, KNODE helped clients identify these experts based on specific business needs and also helped clients manage their collaborations through its streamlined and intuitive web-based user interface.My responsibilities included scouring breaking scientific and medical news media outlets and authoring eye-catching, engaging, and notable headlines to post on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. My objective was to increase brand recognition, drive consumer web traffic, and promote consumer interaction. I positively impacted KNODE by increasing its unique monthly searches, optimizing its site ranking in search engines, and increasing its Twitter following by 478%.

Oral Presentations is an upper-level elective at JHU taught by the Center for Leadership Education’s Dr. Kevin Dungey. As a Course Assistant, I taught two 3-hour classes a semester and provided Dr. Dungey with lecture materials and A/V support. Additionally, I held weekly office hours for students seeking mentorship, tutoring, and critiques on their presentation style and visuals. This activity fulfilled my passion for mentorship and public speaking, while improving my ability to summarize and present complex topics in an intuitive, easily comprehendible manner.

Founded and operated by students, The Complete Dorm Room (CDR) was an online retail venture that supplied and hand-delivered move-in essentials to Johns Hopkins University students. CDR eliminated the stressful, emotional, and tumultuous days of jam-packing one’s room into a van and embarking on the trek to campus. Customers could conveniently purchase over 300 items online months prior to move-in and CDR would deliver the orders to their rooms upon their arrival, hassle-free.As a co-founder and manager, the entire enterprise was my responsibility. Strategic responsibilities included mission creation, market opportunity analysis, consumer and customer analysis, marketing strategy inception, supply chain sourcing strategy establishment, funding reservation, website design and development, financial reporting, cash management, and payroll administration. Daily responsibilities included employee management, advertising campaign execution, customer order scheduling, customer assistance, supply receipt, order fulfillment, and order delivery. Under my management CDR grossed over $65,000 (500+% above projections).

The Kairos Society is a global community of top students and leaders who aim to solve the world’s greatest challenges. Through Kairos, entrepreneurs are supported by visionary, international mentors including Peter Diamandis, Richard Branson, Bill Gates, and Bill Clinton. Kairos’s keystone event, the Kairos Global Summit, attracts Global Fellows around the world where influential CEOs, mentors, startups, and young entrepreneurs share their visions of the future and start collaborations. As Kairos’s Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Chairman, I led JHU’s chapter of 16 Global Fellows. I fostered entrepreneurship, held global innovation workshops, programmed chapter conversations with local entrepreneurs, and organized business plan competitions with over 200 attendees from six universities. As a Global Fellow, I attended national entrepreneurship events, including the Kairos Global Summit, and engaged in innovation challenges with international entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial mentors.

Created and employed by students, The Blue Jay Cleaners (BJC) was a janitorial venture that serviced Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and the greater Baltimore community. Customers could conveniently purchase customized cleaning packages and schedule their residential or business cleaning appointments online. BJC was the only cleaning service with access to JHU dormitories and kept one’s living spaces clean and orderly while eliminating the conflict that stems from roommates’ and coworkers’ unique cleaning routines. o As a co-founder and manager, the entire venture was my responsibility. Strategic responsibilities included mission and marketplace opportunity definition, consumer and customer analysis, marketing strategy creation and execution, supply chain sourcing strategy inception, website design and construction, financial reporting, cash management, and payroll administration. Daily responsibilities included employee management, employee scheduling, advertising campaign execution, customer order scheduling, and customer assistance. Under my management BJC grossed over $5,000 annually and employed 12 students.

Constructing a Computational Model of Epilepsy

MedStar Union Memorial Hospital (MUMH) is a not-for-profit, teaching hospital that has been caring for members of Baltimore’s inner-city community for more than 160 years. During my internship, I shadowed practicing endocrinologists and gained familiarity with patient diagnosis, doctor-patient communication, medical procedures, and medical devices that help treat diabetes and other endocrine disorders. MUMH’s unique location provided me with first-hand experiences that exposed the socio-economic disparity of access to health care and medicinal treatment, and the substantial effect health has on one’s life.
