- This lab focuses on understanding the somatosensory circuits underlying modalities like pain and itch, using mice as a model organism- Member of a team collaborating with another University of Michigan Neuroscience lab on optimizing and executing a Golgi staining protocol for mouse brains- Acquire tissue samples, use cryostat to section tissue, perform PCR for genotyping, use light microscopy to image tissues, perform immunostaining and Golgi staining

- Assist physician with patient exams and treatments, provide care per physicians’ directions- Observe orthopedic surgeons and surgical staff in the operating room during varied procedures- Take patient history and update their medical records (Epic EMR)- Dress wounds, remove sutures/staples from surgical incisions and healed trauma wounds, prepare injectable medications, apply/remove casts and splints- Fit and dispense durable medical equipment (braces, boots, post-op shoes, etc.)- Process and monitor referrals for outside services (e.g., surgical procedures, medications requiring insurance approval, home health or therapy services)- Reinforce patient/family education
