Drawing upon his IT and service/contract management experience, consulting with large (typically Fortune 500) companies to provide those companies with assistance and advice regarding the running of outsourcing projects and the ongoing management of outsourcing relationships (contracts) following contract signature — where his work includes writing RFP documents, negotiating contract documents, gathering business requirements, training governance organisations, designing IT processes, coaching and leading IT teams through outsourcing projects. Operating within the framework of Nortel Networks’ $3B, seven-year agreement with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), managed outsourcing of additional IT work to CSC based on Nortel Networks’ continually evolving requirements and strict cost constraints.Achievements:• Outsourced an additional 500 FTEs after the initial contract signing, for IT savings of $35M–$45M over 6.5 years.• Renegotiated every infrastructure service delivered by CSC, resulting in a net expense reduction of over 50% annually.• Assisted a European team in the successful outsourcing of IT services to the manufacturing facilities and staff Nortel acquired from JDS in late 2001.• Achieved goal of break-even status for 2002, leading to major cost savings in future years.Key Duties:• Gather and lead cross-functional project teams and negotiate with CSC.• Advise the IS executive team on outsourcing issues, thereby facilitating their development of IS policy, practice and direction.• Provide corporate-wide guidance and dispute resolution assistance on interpretation of the outsourcing agreement with CSC.• Lead the Performance Management and Service Operations team whose responsibilities include review of CSC service performance.

Led the gathering of IS Cross Functional requirements, delivered the Cross Functional section of the RFP, and spearheaded the infrastructure outsourcing sub-team in RFP response evaluations and face-to-face negotiations with two suppliers.Achievements:• Delivered the infrastructure component of an IT outsourcing deal in half the time compared to comparable initiatives in the industry. • Led the successful delivery of one quarter of the seven-year $3B agreement, saving Nortel Networks $25M.• Delivered two potential infrastructure contracts (IBM and CSC) and recommended an overall infrastructure down-select decision.• Contributed directly to Nortel’s improved financial and operational agility, reduced costs, and enhanced service performance.Key Duties:• Inspired a team consisting of an outsourcing consultant and a multi-functional group of senior managers and directors, including Supply Management, IS service delivery and application subject matter experts.• Ensured presence of background data for the Cross Functional part of the RFP.• Provided leadership to the infrastructure negotiation team.• Represented the infrastructure team in interactions with senior management.

Managed 3rd-tier global desktop support for PCs, Macs, & UNIX workstations, 2nd-tier North American desktop analysts, and 1st-tier Ottawa call center (for ~30,000 users).Achievements:• Created a PC/Mac 3rd-tier global support group.• Transitioned the Ottawa 1st-tier call center into a 2nd-tier support team behind the global IS 1st-tier call center.Key Duties:• Led 2nd-tier & 3rd-tier desktop support functions.• Co-led program management of Nortel Networks’ global desktop computing environment.• Led PMO providing project management for creation of desktop software images (PC, Mac, HP-UX, & Solaris).• Responsible for vendor support contracts with Microsoft, HP, Sun & Adobe.
