Litigation Paralegal
CurrentResponsible for managing cases in direct conjunction with handling attorneys in the litigation/trial phases. Duties consist of the drafting and filing of complaints. Propounding and responding to multiple sets of discovery. Evidence gathering, case review, request and evaluate medical records, calendaring and sending reminders to attorneys, scheduling client calls/ interviews with and for attorneys, court filings (CMS, proof of service, joint statements, etc), motion drafting (ie: motions to compel discovery, arbitration, strike), petitions, stipulations, document proofing, cite checking, legal research, noticing and scheduling depositions, summarizing deposition transcripts, demands and disclosures of expert witnesses, client updates, meet & confers. Responsible for establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships with opposing counsel. Responsible for onboarding and training new paralegals and attorneys for the litigation department. Works with and assigns tasks as needed to the pre-litigation department and/or medical records department. Generates and updates reports for managing attorneys and bi-monthly litigation team meetings. Ensures paralegals regularly update reporting materials and assigns cases to paralegals and attorneys as needed.
