Experienced principal DevOps/Cloud/Automation engineer and architect currently serving in the Cloud Services group of our Global Technology Services organization here at FICO. Senior Devops/Scm Engineer - Global Technology ServicesFico Apr 2001 - Dec 2021Bozeman, Montana, UsServed as a senior engineer for FICO’s Orchestration/Automation unit with primary focus on implementing a single solution to automate complex IT provisioning and software deployment across the 3 different cloud providers we utilize: VMWare, OpenStack, AWS. This solution uses an open source project called Cloudify that we are enhancing and integrating with other orchestration component services including Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, and Foreman. We also authored individual infrastructure plugins to leverage service APIs to provision all pieces of an entire deployment environment including GTMs and LTMs, firewall rules, DNS/CNAME/IP records, Linux and Windows VMs, commercial certificates, monitoring, shared storage, Active Directory, db script execution, ServiceNow CMDB, etc. We worked directly with the DevOps team to mentor them on the usage of this new solution and assist them with writing the blueprints for the orchestration. I was also responsible for automating and implementing the CI/CD process for the solution itself. In my previous 15-year role that I transitioned from in mid 2017, I was the senior CI/CD engineer and administrator for our centralized development and CI/CD services.

Initially served as a courseware developer to create the User and Administration classes for ClearCase and Clearmake for the training department, and then became an instructor and consultant for that courseware. For over 2.5 years I traveled throughout the United States teaching over 100 ClearCase and configuration management classes to companies such as Motorola, Cisco, Nortel, Ericsson, HP, …. The primary subject matter of my classes were the software development life cycle, design methodologies, release and testing strategies, and build process as they related to ClearCase and Clearmake. Also, for each customer engagement I would work with their administrators to evaluate and suggest possible improvements to their current implementation. To be an effective instructor, courseware developer, and consultant, it was a requirement that I had a high-level of expertise in the subject matter and was able to communicate that effectively, created engaging courseware that allowed students to learn by doing, and created an enthusiasm for learning in the classroom.
