I worked for Toyota as a Co-op at one of their Powertrain plants located in West Virginia. I gained hands on experience in 3D modeling and AutoCAD drawings with my assignments. The presentations were accompanied with decision matrix in order to come to a resolution based on different criteria needed for specific projects. There were many trainings for the Toyota Production System (otherwise known as Lean Manufacturing) that I was involved with. Every aspect of the plant was somehow a product of the Toyota Production System. Whether it was improving cycle time for a specific machine making a part or putting a toolbox back in its designated, outlined place on the floor, there was always room for efficiency improvements which lead to saved time and money.I was also a point of contact for a vendor we were working with to build a new assembly line for us from existing machines and conveyors we had on hand. In addition, I was a point of contact for the contracting company we had on site to have them ship out the machines and conveyors to the vendor. Show less

I was in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Tech Shop where I worked on projects for the university ranging from metal fabrication to carpentry. The largest task of the summer was tearing down and moving an existing wind tunnel in the aerospace laboratory alongside constructing an environmental wind tunnel at the universities airport hanger.

I was assigned tasks based on my previous skills as a home mechanic. The shop owner taught me how to perform various repairs and scheduled maintenance on a wide range of automobiles. As a result, I am confident in repairing vehicles unsupervised. At the shop, I was instructed how to repair A/C systems, diagnose mechanical issues, and work with fluids and hydraulics as well. This job allowed me to be hands on all the time which I found extremely satisfying.

I worked with a wide variety of materials ranging from wood, plastic, and laminate along with many others.
