Confidentiality clauses prevent me from naming others.Using knowledge developed in a World Bank project for the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector (https://www.delvedatabase.org/people/profile/42548) to write a book on unrecognized, under-served ASM workers. Since government programmes do not segregate sectors by occupation for receiving benefits they are considered part of the labour economy and otherwise ignored. But the government knows they exist and has programmes which address their specific needs. ASM workers are unable to access those badly-needed benefits because they, their employers and NGOs working with them are unaware of them. The sector consists of 18 million persons who drive the transition to zero-emissions and this number is estimated to reach 50 million by 2025 to meet carbon neutrality targets by 2070. Data on this sector is mostly pre-2003 and little or no data is available for mining degraded areas they work in. This book is the first step towards formalization through regognition of the ASM sector. It also provides a methodology for that. It has more or less been piloted in a project I headed but not completely since it was not a project deliverable. Show less
