During my internship from June to August 2024, I monitored and serviced loan portfolios, analyzing key risk indicators like loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, Weighted Average Leverage Through Security, and VAE percentages. I delivered weekly market updates on the banking and private debt/credit sectors, covering macroeconomic shifts, bank earnings, and private equity trends. Additionally, I assisted associates in preparing loan advance packages, servicer reports, and portfolio stratifications to help meet critical deadlines. I also developed and presented a mock amendment to a credit facility, proposing a facility upsize pricing adjustments, and a one-year extension.Through this role, I gained valuable exposure to the private debt and credit industry, including alternatives in finance such as private credit and direct lending. By analyzing private credit trends, liquidity risks, and the impacts of macroeconomic shifts on these markets, I developed a deeper understanding of how alternative financing plays a critical role in supporting companies that may not have access to traditional lending. This experience further enhanced my ability to assess risk, structure financing solutions, and understand the broader landscape of private debt as an increasingly important asset class within modern portfolio management.
